Bondi and Eastern Suburbs Theatre Company (BEST Co)
BEST (tm) is a not for profit theatre company set up by professional actors from the eastern suburbs of Sydney, founded by actor and producer Melissa Thompson. BEST (tm) was set up in order to take advantage of the iconic and beautiful locations in the eastern suburbs of Sydney and provide locals and tourists with a professional and affordable performance in beautiful surrounds.
Our inaugural performance of "Shakespeare by the Foreshore" (Romeo and Juliet) was set in the Amphitheatre on Bondi Beach, Rushcutters Bay Park and Coogee Bay Amphitheatre in February/March 2015, so locals and tourists alike could enjoy the relaxed ambience of Shakespeare, in beautiful outdoor surrounds. We shall provide an annual performance of Shakespeare in these venues each year, so audiences can revisit annually (mark your calendars). In March 2016 we played Shakespeare's " 12th Night" directed by Michael Campbell. In April 2017 we presented "The Tempest".
Our first production of "Wilde in the Open" was The Importance of Being Earnest, performed in October 2015, to also become an annual event each year, same locations, same month, different Oscar Wilde play. In November 2016 we performed "Lady Windermere's Fan", In October 2017 we presented "Salome".
Please come join us for a picnic theatre in the open, by Sydney's Eastern beaches and harbour, as we take you back to a simpler time, with lessons still relevant to modern times...
